Wenzhou and Hong Kong Join Forces to Advance Educational Transformation

A tailor-made training programme jointly organised by the Academy for Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures (AAPSEF) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the Wenzhou Education Bureau was successfully held from 11 to 17 January 2026. This seven-day intensive programme aimed to comprehensively enhance the strategic planning and practical application capabilities of Wenzhou’s primary and secondary school principals and teachers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) education.

The 27-member delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges with EdUHK professors and experts in the field of AI, including Prof Xu Guandong, Prof Song Yanjie, Prof Kong Siu Cheung, Prof Yu Leung Ho Philip, Dr Wan Zhihong, Dr Yang Lan and Dr Fu Hong. Through specialised lectures and collaborative workshops, participants not only mastered the theoretical foundations of AI pedagogy but also explored concrete pathways for transforming cutting-edge technology into practical teaching strategies.

To provide a holistic view of AI education in Hong Kong, the workshop invited representatives from the Hong Kong Education Bureau and Hong Kong Education City to share policies regarding AI literacy and teacher professional development. The delegation also participated in guided tours of EdUHK’s key facilities, including the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology, University Research Facility of Human Behavioural Neuroscience, the Hong Kong Museum of Education and the EdUHK Library.  Furthermore, site visits to Cyberport and various local primary and secondary schools allowed participants to witness real-world cases of AI technology enhancing classroom instruction and student learning efficiency.

This training programme has not only deepened the participants’ understanding of AI in education but also strengthened professional ties between the Wenzhou Education Bureau and EdUHK. This collaboration lays a solid foundation for long-term exchange and cooperation in the field of digital educational transformation between the two regions.
